Cyril Winskell guided us through this building with principal rooms by architects John Dobson, Thomas Oliver junior and T.R. Spence, who designed the Art Gallery. Spence was also the architect of St George's Church for Charles Mitchell.
The illustration of the gallery above dates from 1910 and looks south. The Falconer a marble and bronze sculpture at the curtained window is now in the Shipley Art Gallery; all the paintings seen on the walls are in storage at the Laing Art Gallery.
Car parking is available in the grounds of the building. West Jesmond and Ilford Road Metro stations are close by.
