The Black Gate: Newcastle upon Tyne

The project is to secure a sustainable future for the Black Gate which has been vacant and unused since the relocation of the Society of Antiquaries to The Great North Museum in 2009. Part of the building is a scheduled ancient monument. It is proposed to create an educational, community and visitor heritage centre within the building and provide access for all.

Grace will talk about the rich history of the building and Stephen of Purcell Conservation Architects will describe the detail of the proposals.
