This year'e trip took us to Lincolnshire. The county is a large one and we concentrated on the central area leaving some treats, particularly in the south, for a future year. We took in Lincoln with its fine gothic cathedral and its castle, home to one of the four original copies of Magna Carta. We also visited Gainsborough Old Hall, Marston Hall, Doddington Hall, Belton House and Tattershall Castle. Amongst the churches we visited are Heckington, Grantham, Brant Broughton and Boston.

Finding a suitable hotel in central Lincoln defeated us and we have the Bentley Hotel (Best Western Hotel group) at South Hykeham, just outside Lincoln. This is a modern hotel which provided all necessary comforts as well as a pool, spa and gym (but didn't assume that we would have enough energy left after our full and exciting days to make use of it!).

The cost was a little higher than last year but we are sure it still represented very good value. A copy of the flier and booking form is available for reference.
