Geoff is a metal conservator with four decades' experience who advises English Heritage on the conservation of historic metalwork. He is the past managing director of Dorothea Restorations Limited, whose workshops draw on the finest standards of conservation of historic metalwork and machinery.
The lecture illustrated how iron was made and shaped traditionally its different forms, and how it was used in architectural and structural applications. Geoff also outlined how and why it deteriorates and described some conservation options.
